Who Are You?

Well you no doubt know your own name but a name is just a label. Who are you? You know who you are related to and you may often define yourself by that label also. You are a mother, father, brother, sister, wife, husband, friend, employee, employer, son daughter, teacher, Kali carbonicum student and many more possible labels. But who are you?

The truth is that neither what you are called nor what role you perform in life answers the question of who you are. Rather these can be ways of avoiding the issue. Maybe it is not deliberately done, but somehow we find it easier to be something to someone than to define who we really are.

Each one of us is an individual. It has been said that when God created each one of us He broke the mould. There is a truth there. No other individual has the same characteristics as you. Just as your fingerprints or the iris in your eye or your DNA are individual and unique to you, so is your personality and the karmic DNA deep within your being. That defines who you really are. That makes you the real YOU.

An important part of our journey through this life is a voyage of discovery, to discover what is the real essence of the true ME contained with this body and mind. This real me is distinct from the mind, for the mind can be a collaborator in masking us from our true purpose and identity.

It is only as we progress in discovery ourselves that we begin to recognize our true value. It is a pathway of growing self esteem. This does involve for most of us a juggling act between our responsibilities in life towards those we are in relationship with, in whatever way that may be, and our own very individual path of personal growth.

This process of self discovery and personal growth and development is so important. That is because when the time comes for us to return to Source, to spirit, to heaven if you like to so call it, we will judge ourselves in the clearest light. That judgment will have no relation to our bank balance or practical assets achieved whilst on the earth plane. It will be solely based upon what we have become during our time down here. It will reflect the progress of our soul from the time of its birth into this incarnation and the time of so-called death out of it.

To progress on our pathway we all need some quality time to commune with our inner self and to perceive the development we are making. We essentially need to have balance in our lives. This is so difficult for many whose lives are so full of all the many obligations that they have towards others. But time can and must be found for some quiet contemplation. Opportunities MUST be sought to get aside from the bustle of daily life and find a time, however brief, in our own oasis of tranquility. Despite what you might think, you CAN do it. For your own personal growth you MUST do it.
